I started a band with my buddies when I was 15. We played a couple small gigs, and made a (weak) demo CD when we were 17. We booted our singer and bass player, got new guys shortly after that. We played a skate park, small bars, cut a very rough demo, played some more serious downtown bars in Ottawa, and then I quit with the drummer and the band dissolved in 2004, when I was 20.

My avatar is actually from our last show together in August '04. I played lead guitar in the band.

The guys are back together these days with a new bass player and singer again - the band name is Slight of Hand and we're all still good buddies

sorry that you are completely untalented
2 mods posted responses, so this thread is fine
good day

im untalented because you made a stupid thread and are about to maybe put out a demo tape with a jewish drummer?
this thread is dumb.
what would be a better thread would be you looking for insight on how to go about getting your tape out or whatever.

OP: hey guys, how far did your band make it?
some random poster: we played some parties, thats about it
OP: oh, cool
srp: yeah, cool
OP: ok, thanks
srp: ok

[censored] awesome thread

whenever i actually crack up and laugh out loud i feel the need to applaud the poster. so, thank you and good job.

I play trumpet in a jazz band on the side (I'm a lawyer by day). Nothing serious -- just a bunch of other lawyers doing shows for charity events. We do make one CD a year, although it's nothing commercial -- solely for us and for promotional type activites. PM me if you'd like a link to our makeshift website.

my band has done a bunch of gigs. i've been on tour before and we all play regularly with other people in NYC and we all make a living as hired musicians/audio engineers.

we're taking it easy with the shows so we can rehearse + record our new album.

but i think we rock pretty damn hard.

My band Extortion have toured nationally here in Australia, supported a bunch of American bands (Iron Lung, Artimus Pyle, Wolf Eyes, Outbreak etc) and just last week put out a 12" LP on seminal US label Deep Six (they put out a lot of records by some of our biggest influences).

This is the album description they gave us:

You sleep through your alarm. It is raining and cold outside. You miss your bus. You are late for work. You get fired. You have no money to pay the rent. You put your fist through a wall. You mug an old lady. You pawn her belongings in a bad part of town. You spend the money on drugs and alcohol. You stumble through the streets. You talk to yourself. You bash someone up for fun. You walk through someone’s yard. You get home to find an eviction notice. You break in. You take your Infest, Negative FX and Siege records. You pull down your Sabbath poster from the wall. You are physically exhausted. You are mentally unstable. You have a kitchen knife and a box of matches...

got some regional (and pirate) radio airplay in the 1990's and early 2000's - it was this song, actually

had an A&R guy offer us a chance at his label when I was playing CCM music in the mid 90's (my first band) - - but it would have involved personal changes we weren't down for. Besides, after a band member gets a divorce you gotta drop outta that genre.

got a potential offer to put some stuff out on a couple indie labels when one of the two albums in the pipe get completed next yr - (either a full disk of the above or my solo disk)

and then last but not least - I got homies in Nashville Those homies got friends with managers - friends with friends - and I got the songs -
