Eh, the Braves aren't paying the full amount. Trust me, this deal was really good for Atlanta - Schuerholz makes very few poor contract-based decisions.

* $20M signing bonus ($1M to charity, $19M deferred to 2009-18 at 3% interest)

I know he's not on that list but the Mets are still paying Edgardo Alfonzo 8 million a year. That has got to be up there with BAD.

Rumor has it Hampton was looking good throwing BP at the end of the season. Maybe he'll actually get a start and some wins next year.
