That list is total garbage, unless you like long dark winters.

I guess I'll be the first american to say that i'd rather live in any of those places right now instead of the US, but I think most of it is just wanting to travel.

I think the best thing that the US has going for it is the geographic diversity. No other country can really compete with us in that department.

[/ QUOTE ]

And cultural diversity as well...

Oh and totally unrelated, but nevertheless mind-boggling:

[ QUOTE ]
Guess what, lets say the instructor from the flying school, called the feds in 2001 telling them one of his students is not interested in learning to take off or land.

[/ QUOTE ]

I always had a hard time believing this, but I guess it's true. Why in the world didn't those hijackers just suck it up and learn those skills as well, just as a cover? I doubt the 'we're not gonna learn that in case we chicken out' factor is an issue with those guys.. WTF?

(disclaimer in case some ppl are going to be offended and jump on me again: I think the events are absolutely horrible, and my implicit assumption that those people must have a common sense like everybody else doesn't change that)

o rly?

Brazil (wiki):
* white 53.7%
* multiracial 38.5% (mostly mixed White and Black (mulato))
* black 6.2%
* Asian 0.5%
* Amerindian 0.4%
* unspecified 0.7%

Looks pretty black and white to me...

It's nice to see the lack of flaming in this particular thread. The OP set a nice tone. For me, I think it's one of those questions best answered by people who have lived in several different countries, with various types of geography, political structures, education systems, health systems, religions, ethnic groups, etc. Those are the people I like to talk to. I think we all get tired of folks who say "I live in best country in damn world," but they have never even been anywhere else, let alone lived abroad.

See: New Zealand

In fact I think New Zealand is pretty much the nicest place on earth.

Liberal government, strong education at all levels, lowest pollution rate among non scandanavian countries, most eco friendly country on earth. And without a doubt the most beautiful scenery ANYWHERE.
