Some have to learn the hard way that when the bud goes in, you don't follow. Not even for the lame excuse of getting a cigarette. Some don't learn unless the tables get turned. Then it becomes this national incident. Hopefully it won't have to go that far.

heh, ive actually been in heated discussions with friends before, because someone argues the legitimacy of someone elses "dibs" claim. In the end tho, its always the guy who calls it first.

Where it can get messy is when the guy calls dibs, then just sits there all night and never does anything. So there is also a kind of timeframe that the 'dibs' is valid.

kind of a funny story. I actually had a friend ask me if "dibs" meant what she thought it meant, because she had heard it more than once when walking past a group of guys at partys and stuff. I told her it was slang for "Definitely Is Bitchy Syndrome"

I should end the story there, but the truth is after a few mins I told her the truth, cuz she got really upset about randoms thinking she looked like a bitch, heh.

the way we used to solve this, was if someone called dibs, and didnt have the sack to follow thru because he got scared, wed go hit on the girl for him (making sure to make him look like a giant pussy in the process)

The timeframe for dibs is either
A- the amount of time it would take to extracate yourself politely from a conversation you are cutreently in
or
B- the amount of time it takes to take a piss, say "oh [censored]" cause you zipped up to fast and have an abvious urnise dot on your pats, make two brief attempts to dry it, and say "[censored] it" and go talk to the girl.
