In terms of actual "burger" taste, i.e., just the taste of the meat by itself (no condiments), I'd rank them:
BK>Wendy's>McD's No In-And-Out, Carl Jr., or any other major burger chains here in East Coast.

Steak at Applebees and most other chain restaurants aren't very good. Although I'm sure there are some. Applebees has some of the worst steaks of the chain restaurants. Personally I like Outback Steaks in comparison to most chains but it's nothing compared to a fine steak restaurant.
