never once have I been asked if I want sweetner or room for cream in my Starbucks. I do want room for cream but if I forget to ask I just have to pour some out in the garbage.

sublime,

The only explanation I can think of for this "rant" is that Sucker has been in school for his entire life and now that he's finally entering the real world has little clue about what to expect in situations outside a university campus.

diablo-

do you think the opposite is true? for example, i never even made it to the 9th grade and seem to be a man who understands the world and the people that inhabit it to a much higher degree than the average 20 something male. you would never see me complain about being asked questions about my food order!

[/ QUOTE ]

not diablo but I think that you understand it more because you probably had to start at the bottom so you appreciate the people on the bottom rungs of the economic ladder more, whereas a lot of ivory tower Ph.D's were probably born upper middle class and haven't had to work for as much stuff as you. I never would have guessed that you dropped out in 9th grade from your posts. You're smarter than a lot of people I know that have graduated college.

hack-

i have bedded a lot of smart women. maybe that has helped my cause!

That's crazy. The room for cream question is the most common question I get.

Yeah, and when I say "yes, leave room for cream," they almost always fill it to the top. There's a legit rant.

Yash - you're probably right.

why is it starbucks seems to consistently have awesome employees? i don't think i've ever encountered a rude barista, or anyone who wasn't at least pleasant. some of the baristas i've dealt with have been flat out incredible.

i know starbucks pays fairly well, and has a decent benefits package considering, but is there more to it than that?

This has been my experience also.

I'm all for Starbucks-bashing as well.
But every time I've been to one they seem to have the world's nicest employees at all time (and not necessarily in that 'overly friendly because i'm so caffeinated' kind of way).

The only even semi-not-nice Starbucks employees I have encountered were at the Treasure Island in LV. But they weren't rude per-se.
Just in a hurry and seemingly more annoyed to be there/alive than other Starbucks employees I have encountered.

A male barista is still referred to as a barista. Barista is an Italian word of origin and is not affected by gender.
