say i do 'make homeade pizza'...i just ask them for toppings they like? there isn't much audience interaction in the part about making the dough...and i shouldn't just focus on the ingredients, more on the process of mixing then kneading then rising then rolling? ugh

to sum up from my other post, here are some reasonable topics:

how to play poker (rules, maybe briefly explain the concepts of bluffing vs. valuebetting, no more than that on strategy though)
rules of mafia (again, rules). actually i don't like this topic as much as i did 5 min ago but it's still ok i guess
how to procrastinate (if you have enough specifics)
how to save for retirement (narrowed in some way)

edit: if you can draw well this is a plus. write scamper in big vertical letters on the board before the presentation starts and a picture of a person. the title of your presentation is "how to design an alien". so for S, imagine if we had flippers instead of hands. etc.

I did something similar to audition to tutor for the Princeton Review when I was like 18. I did my 5 minute presentation on how to play volleyball (we did not have a whiteboard requirement). I brought in a volleyball and brought up people from the audience to help demonstrate. It sounds pretty lame looking back on it now, but it worked.

I think the most important thing about the presentation (assuming that it is analogous to Kaplan) is that you get the audience involved. So, whatever you pick, make sure you pick something that allows you to do that. I suggest asking a lot of easy questions of the audience and asking for volunteers to demonstrate stuff.

FWIW, after reading some of the posts, I think teaching a small aspect of playing poker could work really well. Just make sure you concentrate on a small, easy-to-understand aspect (like maybe when to call with a flush draw).

I did a 5 minute presentation on Blackjack. I spent a few minutes on how to play, and a few on VERY basic strategy.

It is an easy winner.

I liked the fine line between leveling, sound advice, and farfetched ideas in this thread, it was delectable.

My idea is: how to choose a good password. When using the same password is okay, using a mnemonic system to generate similar but different passwords for different sites, how to add complexity/numbers/length to your password when it is necessary, using password hints, when keeping your password saved on your computer is okay, situations such as sharing accounts.
