[ QUOTE ] Can I write this off on taxes? [/ QUOTE ] If you file as professional, yes. Just make sure you keep the receipt. [/ QUOTE ] Don't you have to be able to show that you use it 100% for work? You'd probably be better off not putting more audit bait in your return. You'd be definately better off asking a tax accountant. |

I dont think you need 100% usage, but seeing an accountant is the right answer.

Auditing isn't a problem when I don't lie on my taxes
But since I do I guess I might not write it off. |

Re: Which Computer to buy(Hp/Dell, AMD/Intel)
A hammer is a little more single purpose than something like a computer. It's why trying to deduct home office equipment is so difficult, it can too easily be used for non-work purposes. Again, this is hearsay from who knows where, but if you're going to try and start deducting iffy stuff like this you are better off talking to a professional than a computer help forum on a poker board.

In fact if it's not 100% for work you probably can't deduct it at all. Only a few things can be deducted based on partial use and those have very strict rules and you have to be careful and document them. |

why are people giving tax advice [/ QUOTE ] 'cause if posters on 2p2 only commented when they knew what they were talking about, there would be very little content. |
