as much as I love bacon, ribs, steak, burgers, chops, etc, I had to go with fish. Probably salmon and swordfish. There's infinite sauces to accompany them, and they're delicious raw saving a lot of prep time. Also, it's an island! fish just makes sense.

Pork is good once in a while, wouldnt wanna eat it everday especially when I could have a nice juicy steak.

Bacon is vv good though

[/ QUOTE ]

Pork offers a wide variety - ribs, shoulder, tenderloin, ham, bacon, sausage

I can possibly see picking beef over pork (especially if veal is included in the bargain), but I don't think you would get as good a variety or as good a taste in things other than the prime cuts (example, easy way to fix dry hamburger is to add ground pork).

However, valuing chicken over pork, which seems to be the result here and the result of the referenced poll, shows a problem with taste buds.

I voted for fish and then realized I was dumb for doing so. WTF? I'm on an island. I can fish all I want, but unless there is a population of wild pigs running around, I now change my vote to pig and all its wonderful possibilities.

anyone who doesnt pick pork is suspect IMO

I agree completely, although I can at least see why people would choose beef.

Chicken makes no sense at all, and I can't believe it's beating pork right now.

Chicken would be last on my list if fish was open than more than two kinds. Freerollin' brings up a good point about the fishing thing, but I don't think that was OP's intention.

At first I was tempted to say beef, mainly because I'm a burger fanatic, but then I realized onions, tomatoes, etc would be hard to come by.

Pork is both tastier than chicken AND has greater variety. The sauces throw a little chink in the armor, but seriously, if you're picking chicken so you can have terriyaki, BBQ, AND sweet and sour wings, I'm pretty sure using funky sauces on pork would be just as delicious.

Plus, bacon.

For the poll I chose beef, but if given the option, I'd go for buffalo.
