Re: can i fold this? i really want to
[ QUOTE ]
i don't see how betting flop is bad, worse hands call as well. [/ QUOTE ] pretty much only a3-a6, and i'm not even very far ahead of those because i need to catch a non-pairing small card to avoid a chop. it would be a pretty surprising call if grrr... called the flop with Jx. i guess the pfr might call with a hand like Jx or KK, but he's more likely to put a bet in on a street after the flop (when it looks more like i'm just trying to pick up the pot). checking the flop also saves money when the turn goes bet-raise to me (or in some cases bet-call). i also give myself the chance to spike a 7 or club and maybe win a big pot when i would've gotten c/r'ed if i bet. |

River is probably a fold but pot odds are so good.

i'm still not convinced flop is a bet...you do know we weren't the preflop raiser right?

Re: can i fold this? i really want to
[ QUOTE ]
They have a max. of 5 outs if behind, and checking is also going to be able to extract more from mid pocketpairs and Jx etc. [/ QUOTE ] 5 outs isn't insignificant in the first place, but they could have like 4 or 5 outs each, which we definitely wouldn't want to give a free card to. By checking behind we're basically giving them a free shot at the pot (to hit their draws on the turn) in exchange for the ability to extract more on the turn/river, right? How much more would you expect us to extract by checking the flop behind? |
