Re: What is everyone\'s favorite Non Strategy poker story book?
I just read Shut Up and Deal by Jesse May. I think it is very well written and enjoyed it. It is about making it as a pro, some of the darker aspects of the gambling life and filled with interesting characters.
Zen and the Art of Poker is also a book I enjoyed although it is essentially a strategy book, but not in the typical way. |

Poker wisdom of a champion by Doyle Brunson was a very enjoyable read even though it was not mentioned here, it was more a bunch of short essays about scattered stories than a big novel. Even still all my friends and I enjoyed it very much. Is Amarillo Slim really that scumbaggy??

Re: What is everyone\'s favorite Non Strategy poker story book?
Professor, Banker, and the Suicide King is so far my favorite with The Biggest Game in Town coming in second.
I see others have mentioned Real Deal by Anthony Holden... That has to be one of the most boring/dry books that I've ever read. It constantly goes off on tangents a chapter at a time as to what happened 20 years before the current setting. I had to put it down about 1/3 of the way through. |

My two favorite so far:
Poker Wisdom of a Champion by Doyle Brunson The Professor, The Banker, and The Suicide King I just starting reading Busting Vegas by Ben Mezrich last night. Only got through a couple chapters so I don't have much of an opinion on that one yet. |

"King of Small World" by Rick Bennet. I thought it was an enjoyable book that just happened to involve poker. I do not know how realistic the story is, but it was a good use of a few hours. I also like Poker Nation.
