Maybe not if you're a pro gambler who likes the stakes higher than the avg guy... $1K/pt Chinese poker... riddiculous $10K prop bets without any discernable edge, etc...
The point is that he's playing blackjack for $3K a hand & his lifestyle doesn't seem to be suffering from it.... And we're comparing it to TJ's craps habits, which by most accounts, does.

the Hellmuth/TJ story reminds me of Billy Baxter seeing Nubby Morgan coming in a casino - Nubby gets there and Baxter says "here Nub, here's $500, see if you can do something with it". Nubby walks away and Baxter says "I just made $500 - he was going to ask me for $1000."
TJ is worse than a degen - as anyone can tell you, he doesnt just borrow money, but he refuses to pay his debts. Guy is a bum.
