So when someone robs a bank and then gets caught should they get to keep 5-10% of the money they stole for going through all the hassle of actually robbing it? [/ QUOTE ] definately |

I think the online poker world got a huge warning after the jjprodigy/zeejustin event. If you do it after that you pretty much know the risks involved. [/ QUOTE ] Ya exactly |

[ QUOTE ] having all of it taken away is too extreme considering that it was probably done by quite a few people and winning that tournament is a feat even if he had 4 or 5 lives. he deserves 5 or 10%, imo. [/ QUOTE ] So when someone robs a bank and then gets caught should they get to keep 5-10% of the money they stole for going through all the hassle of actually robbing it? [/ QUOTE ] Cmon, thats not a comparison at all, itd be much more like insider trading than robbing a bank(still not really a proper comparison but w/e) |

Re: TheVOid DQ\'ed? (Xpost)
[ QUOTE ]
technically shouldn't everyone who entered get some compensation? [/ QUOTE ] Truthfully, yes but 2 things: 1) it's bad for poker to overly publicize this. 2) everyone who entered did get compensation. 1) Frankly, I don't want a couple thousand casual HSMTT players receiving an email saying essentially online poker is rigged. The fact that the guy got caught makes me very happy, but the story as a whole, regardless of the ending, is not a good thing for online poker (when the papers report that the cops broke up a huge child pedophilia ring, it makes parents in the community fear for their children' safety more than ever). 2) But yea, that really isn't the players' prob, and PR or the good of the game isn't a good enough reason to withhold from players the compensation to which they are entitled. However, in truth, if you wanna get nice and nitty, all players did receive some compensation, the same compensation in fact: Every player moved up one spot, that's their compensation. Now, for ka$ino that means an extra 700k, for alkemizt that means going from bubbleboy to the money (3k), for Exit that means moving up 416 to 415 (0$) and for Samuel032 that means moving up from 2998th to 2997th (0$). While the $ amounts are different for different players, the compensation is technically exactly the same. Edit: Obv this doesn't mean if I were someone like g-p I wouldn't send stars an email asap and follow through. Of course you get ninto the prob of what about the players Void busted throughout the tournament, from the first hour to ITM, because of g-p deserves extra compensation for being busted by the cheat on the bubble so does whoever he busted in hour 1, and whoever he busted ITM (except Kasino). Russo for instance, regardless of winning 700k now was still cheated out of the chance to play HU for the championship by being busted by the Void, is g-p deserves compensation above and beyond being moved up one spot so does Russo and everyone else Void busted. Of course it puts Stars in a very tricky spot, but that's their prob not the players. |
