Why are there more fish at Party?

Not knowing much about poker, or online poker, the first place I signed up at was Party : it's essentially the biggest most "legitimate sounding" place, with very visible ads to the non-poker playing world. It also had a decent sign up bonus, and was easy to transfer funds via credit card and phone card intermediate.

Poker Stars, on the other hand, is fairly invisible to the non-poker playing world, has no regular sign up bonus, and is hard to transfer funds (unless you want to link your checking account to neteller, which I don't want to do).

Just because someone doesn't play poker well, doesn't mean they are too stupid to notice advertising, sign up bonuses, ease of funding/withdrawing, game selection, and rake. And, although I wouldn't rate Party tops on any of these (except advertising), overall they are good enough, and if you don't mind being a long run but not devastating loser its a good enough place to play.

Its probably advertising and PP is more well known, I originally signed up at PP and then did some research and everyone ranked PS better, so I switched over. I like it much better, learn more and more realistic play. I think my play suffers at PP, its not real poker almost. I lost my whole bankroll once on PP when someone called an all with garbage and pulled basically a 4 outer. Why play someplace and deal with that.
