If he's a complete nit then I'd check and hope for a free card.

[/ QUOTE ] what was your thinking behind this? i think c/r gets money in the pot when villain has air, or a very weak hand. but against anything else that you want to continue (tp, 2p, some other draw) this c/r really makes it easy for villain to play optimally. especially since it is a dry pot on the turn. i guess by c/r you kind of turned your hand into a bluff, as only better hands call right? nice pot anyways. |

[ QUOTE ] IMO - If you can't b/c this, you ought not be raising preflop with small PP OOP. [/ QUOTE ] I really can't see the logic behind this, it doesn't really matter what set we have here, we could have KK and the situation isn't that much different. Yeah little, but still. [/ QUOTE ] You need to understand what you are saying here........ You are saying that unless you catch a set, and then nobody bets or calls - your play with a small pocket pair can't be profitable because "you could be beat so you should fold". But you're not going to be profitable if nobody bets or calls, because nobody is putting money in the pot. So, So basically - what I said holds....If you can't b/c here, then you ought not to play small pp PF at all. This is really simple. You need to make sure whatever play you make PF has a chance to be profitable. Your line here with a c/f suggests that playing small PP will ALWAYS be -EV. |

[ QUOTE ] what was your thinking behind this? i think c/r gets money in the pot when villain has air [/ QUOTE ] huh? [/ QUOTE ] what was your thinking behind this? i think c/r ONLY gets money in the pot when villain has air or a weak hand that he has turned into a bluff. obv he's not folding the flush, or higher set, so given our line he has to fold a bunch of hands he might call a turn bet with... does that make any sense? |

so people only bet into dry side pots with air? they check down their big hands and risk a lot to win $0 the rest of the time?
