[ QUOTE ]
I'm curious as to why anyone thought this movie sucked.

[/ QUOTE ]

I saw the movie in the theater when it came out so my memory is a little foggy. I remember thinking it seemed like a catchy and clever idea for a film and that is all. Once the idea started going in the movie, that is watching Jim Carrey's mind get erased, seemed cool for a couple of minutes and after that it just got old for me. I was with family and had to watch the movie to the end and couldn't wait for it to be over, I would have left halfway through if I could. Just my opinion though, I know many enjoyed it and if it comes on TV I'll probably give it a 2nd chance.

I thought ESOTSM was excellent, although it is kinda weird and confusing at times. I wouldn't recommend watching it from a midpoint, since it can be tough to follow even from the beginning. Still I would give it a chance if I was you, definitely one of my favorite movies in recent years.

Wow, I can understand maybe people not liking this movie as much as I do, but wanting to leave it halfway through?

Damn.

I thought "The Truman Show" was awful too, if that is any consolation.

I really liked this movie, but I'm not at all surprised how many others didn't.

First you kinda have to be in the right mood to watch this movie. It starts off very slow, almost half the movie is pretty slow. Getting past this takes a certain amount of attention and discipline, but it pays off imo.

I can definitely understand how people get a bad first impression (and consequently total impression) of this movie. If you go in with an open mind and some patience, I think most people who enjoy "thinking movies" will enjoy this a lot.

I thought Kate Winslett's character was really annoying. Everything else was pretty good, but couldn't make up was how much I disliked her character.

It's a pretty good movie but it's so depressing I don't think I'd ever want to watch it again.

Depressing? I thought it was pretty uplifting

Very good movie, like many others have said, you appreciate it even more if you have been in that situation.
Should see it soon again.

I loved it. Visually spectacular movie. I've just set it to record later this week on HBO HD to give it a second viewing. I think I'll appreciate it even more without being so confused for the first part of the movie.
