FWIW, his Omaha book (Secrets of Professional Pot-Limit Omaha) is pretty good even though I think he's a bit too fond of shortstacking, limp/reraising and min-raising...

if you read the thread he pops in and basically says "yeah the quiz is old, it's really bad for lots of reasons, etc etc"

Slotboom's nickname is "ace" for playing tight, and he developed a PLO strategy of buying in short and reraising with AAxx. I think he is better at strategy and discipline than "playing poker", so he probably likes to overbet resteal.

The overbet pushes here are pretty bad given the positions and hands.

I actually think his articles are some of the better ones in "Card Player".

Because most people who write for cardplayer suck more than him. Out of all the writters his omaha stuff is some of the better material there. He has written stuff that makes me say, "that was an very interesting article it really made me think about my game." I cant say that about Hellmuth, Varkoni, and about 8 others whose names I cant remember right now.

I played with Rolf deep in the $2k nl. He was pretty bad and incredibly obnoxious when he goes into his act once he's all in.

I really hate his interviews in Cardplayer, he has absolutely NO sense of humour. My fave Slotboom story is a probably drunk Rory Liffey (Irish pro) very loudly (ie the whole room heard) taking the piss out of him in Deauville last year for putting himself on the cover of Cardplayer the first issue he took over as editor. Very funny. How humourless and arrogant do you have to be to put yourself on the cover?!
