Just trying to steer the topic a little to recognize that playing with firearms isn't fun and games, it be SRZ BIZNZ and not to be taken lightly. Getting shot and shooting others (for whatever reason) never be fun.

The instructor is very hardcore and stressed safety above all else in the course. If anyone did ANYTHING even CLOSE to POSSIBLY touching the line, they were yanked from the range.
That being said - shooting IS fun and can be a good stress reliever/hobby/sport given the proper training and respect for the firearms. If I came and posted some of my archery results, nobody would be pulling a ZOMG BOWS AREN'T COOL, yet similar safety precautions must be taken to account. And I rule at archery, too, btw, afaik, ldo, imo.

I do believe that if you're going to have a gun you best be very familiar with it since that's mistake number one most people make. Having gone through this class, I have to say I enjoy it for the same reasons I enjoyed archery. There is a certain meditative state about it. Plus, I am competitive and there is an instant gratification aspect to these sports - you can see immediately if you hit or missed. I like fishing, and I think I would like hunting, so I could see maybe getting into rifle (they don't offer a class for that yet at our school, although we do have a rifle team and a rifle range - just not enough instructors to go around). So basically, I don't know. But I am glad that I now know something about guns and I feel more confident about how to proceed and get better. Plus I kinda always wanted to be a CIA agent.
