[ QUOTE ]
Btw, Marbury said he has tested the shoes thoroughly. I would assume he likes them, or he wouldn't wear them in actual NBA games. [/ QUOTE ] hes probably saying that for PR reasons. i can almost guarentee the shoes that NBA players wear, especially stars are not off the shelf. they wear custom fitted to the T. we are talking about 50 million dollar feet and ankles here. |

also, the logo kinda reminds of converse meets fila
the shoes all look pretty good, the gear, not so much. Starbury is a dumb name. People need to realize, Marbury has tons of street cred. I think these shoes will sell. |

i just saw a commercial for these things during the mlb playoffs or something like that. had no idea they were $15 shoes though.
are they starburys because they are what nike has done to converse in some manner? or is this totally independent shoe company? |

BUMP
Ben Wallace has just signed on for his own line. Hopefully they get these on a few more players so that it gets more and more cool for kids to wear these things. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070327/...ace_starbury_1 |

When I first heard about this I thought it was such a great idea. I dont really know much about Marbury (ie. ego) but he seemed to be doing this for pure reasons.... to give inner city kids a shot at wearing nice sneakers. From what I heard they are built just as well as Nike, though the outer shell is pleather. This is not surprising since it is said that Nikes cost under $4 a pair to make (materials/labor).
"I think here lies the problem. Poor, inner city kids will buy these, but who else?" White kids want to wear what the black kids wear. "I still think it's insane that he is going to wear them while he is playing." Any reason? |
