Re: im like a value detective lol!

Am I the only one (other than evg) that does things like this? Maybe we're spewing... Maybe we're isolating over-cards and taking down a decent sized pot... Hell maybe we're taking down decent pots on the flop... Why all the bitching? If you aren't making "weird" plays from EP sometimes then isn't it pretty obvious what you have when you DO raise from EP? [/ QUOTE ] DAD??? oh, and i checked flop fwiw, but i did timebank it |

Re: im like a value detective lol!
I play my small pairs like this, and am happy to see someone like evg playing the same. Given his experience level, ill be mini-me and explain my rationale.
Open raising is goot, because i) sometimes i steal blinds, and win the tourney ii) hit sets, when no one believes i have a hand, let alone a monster. iii) get more action when playing fast when you connect iv) Hoh says he mixes up his play by open raising from ep some sc, (so i do some sc and small pairs). If he hits, he takes down a biggie v) if rr, just throw it away most times. vi) often cbets win it (preferably only a blind or two) I like a c fold on the flop. Yes, we have our two suits on the board, so we dont have flush problems if we get our set. But, what would a good player call with, against a raise? Mid pp, rr monsters, Ak, AQ, Ajs (maybe) Most of these are either overpairs, or overcards to the flop. So, i agree with the other poster that said we need to fire barrels on the flop and turn to get the job done, which i am not prepared to do. But, i like pf, and flop. Betting into pf callers is spew imho, when we have nothing, let alone two pf callers and a blind |

22-30% 33-28% 44-37% 55-34% 66-40% [/ QUOTE ] I like raising pairs, too, but I don't do it in EP (much). The fact that you raise all small pairs 40% or less indicates to me that you probably rarely raise them in EP (since I'm confident that you very frequently raise them in LP). EVG makes a good argument as to why he raised in EP in this particular hand, but I still think it is close and the default should be to limp. I seriously doubt any good player out there is consistently (over 50% of the time) open-raising small pairs in EP. Later, Che |
