clayton's post actually made this thread intelligent instead of retarded, he hit the nail on the head and should've basically ended the discussion right there.

Three guys who stick out:

-Alex Jacob
-Jason Strasser
-Shaun Deeb

There are some obvious personal biases at work here, but Alex is dedicated and brilliant and experienced and all around basically the Platonic form of a tournament poker player. Strass is semi-retired but still plays occasionally, which is enough when you have the one of the best psychological makeups for poker I've ever seen and tons of experience and knowledge and savvy to boot. And I'm not close with Shaun or anything, but I was deeply impressed with the way he talks hands (not only in tournament NLHE) and in limited sweating I've had a similar sense.

Also, tons of guys who would know have said great things about ZeeJustin.

I took the question to refer to playing at the top level, not necessarily playing full-time at the top level. Like for example Strass could be the next Bobby Baldwin.

Meanwhile there's a few around here i'd think have the drive and talent to stick it out: Deeb, Thayer, Sirwatts, ActionJeff, Gobboboy, and myself seem like safe bets. I know i ain't got [censored] to do.
