the usual suspects half the movies in this thread so far sucked ass, the godfather was boring as hell you are gonna be hard pressed to find one noone disliked because some people just dont like certain genres, some people dont like killing, some dont like romance etc |

Back to the Future - huge rewatchability factor for all generations, some of the special effects when it first came out were top notch, and it even appeals to the older generation through nostalgia.
Charlie and the Chocolate factory seems widely popular, but I could imagine some grinches who wouldn't go for it. I've never seen it but I imagine Shrek would appeal to a wide audience, as would any number of Eddie Murphy films (Beverly Hills Cop, Coming to America) I'm pretty sure everyone could name at least one Eddie Murphy film they genuinely like. Along those lines Steve Martin has broad appeal, I would nominate "Father of the Bride, yeah it's an old yenta chick flick, but Steve Martin is pretty funny in that movie, before he started starring in every generic crap family movie. I think I'm the only person from my generation that doesn't like The Goonies, something about that bitch old lady criminal and one eyed Willie creeps me out, and Chunk really annoys me. |

Forrest Gump would be my pick, although I can't imagine why someone would actually "dislike" Field of Dreams.

I'll put my vote in for disliking Field of Dreams right now so we can end that discussion.
