The best restaurant in Seattle is supposed to be The Herbfarm, but be prepared to break the bank. Haven't eaten there, but as soon as my brother moves to Seattle, I'm headed out to give it a try.

The Herbfarm is rumored to be really great food but a pretty annoying experience.

Palisade is great. The Waterfront on Pier 70 is my new favorite place. I used to eat at Daniel's 3 times a week, but I'll probably change to The Waterfront (less frequently, though).

Jak's in West Seattle Do take the advice on CitySearch re: quickness of service. They don't care if you have a linger but it might feel rushed if they don't know that is what you are in for. My favorite steaks in town.

Jak's is awesome. We usually hit up the Issaquah one. I don't know if the atmosphere qualifies as "romantic", compared to merely being a cool place to go. Maybe better suited for a nice birthday dinner, new job celebration, etc.

Best steaks around, and the UFO potato option is awesome.

[/ QUOTE ]

Good god, no. Daniel's steaks are much better. I am not impressed with Jak's at all.

I would avoid the Melting Pot. The food is ok, but sweet jesus it is expensive for what you get. If I am gonna spend north of $100 for 2 people in a restaurant, I will go somewhere that cooks my food for me, thanks.

Yeah, it's not something that I'd do regularly, but it's something different and rememberable...I think you have to realize that fondue is an "interactive experience." Seems like you'll be at the rest. at least a couple of hours being Chef Boy-R-Dee, if you do all of the courses.

The best meal I've had in Seattle is Mistral.

If she likes European food at all this is where you should go. It's 6 or 7 courses depending on what you wanna do, so I'd plan on spending a good 3 to 5 hours there. I'm not the most knowledgeable guy on wine, but from what I've heard it has the best wine list in town, and every glass I've had there was incredible. Oh, there are no menus or stated prices for anything 'cause the chef just makes up whatever he feels like making, but I'd plan on spending around $500 if you both have wine.

It's a small place (~8 tables maybe) so I'd def make a reservation if you go.
