[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] 10-6-10 would make more sense since 10% of the field gets paid. [/ QUOTE ] Right--it's approximately what they used last year with the Limit Hold'em shooutout (10-5-9). I guess Harrah's wanted to pay more people this year. [/ QUOTE ] sorry to jump OT, but do you remember the blind/starting chip structure in the limit event last year? i read that one table was won in 45 minutes in the nlhe event. it makes me worried about shootout structures. tia [/ QUOTE ] Looking back at the 2005 $1,500 NL shootout, it started at 25-25. One of the CP Updates mentioned that John Phan (I believe) said the table was playing as if they were on the Internet, to explain the fast pace. Also, aren't the levels at 60 minutes? [/ QUOTE ] you are correct on both fronts. someone just sent me this.. http://www.worldseriesofpoker.com/st...t/Event36.html |

[/ QUOTE ] Yep, Harry was just standing up for the little guy. Please. Cliff notes: They eventually pussed out and refunded his entry fee. |

I played some with Harry at the 2500 shorthanded. He seems like a reasonable and friendly guy most of the time though obviously can get pretty angry if he feels he's slighted or insulted in some way (I think we've all seen the footage of him and Arieh from 2004 WSOP). So that said, there's a decent chance he was acting over the top, but he probably felt he had a legitimate reason to do so, especially considering the mounting list of problems that apparently every pro is having with how this WSOP has been run.

![]() I don't see how Harry's complaint was legitimate at all. The rules said that 100 players would advance to the 2nd round. If they hadn't used short-handed tables, then he would have had a real complaint, since it is obvious from the rules that the number of players at each table during the 1st round, and not future rounds, would depend on the number of entries. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well, of course HE felt like he had a legitimate reason, unless he's clinical. I just doubt it's the one he expressed in his post. Overall frustration at WSOP management, sure. Dismay at having to play an unexpected structure, sure. But concern for the little guy? Somehow I doubt it. Especially while he is demanding a refund in the same breath. |

From reading the PP report it looks like they started w/780, played two rounds the first day to get to 13 left, then had the 13 play down to 10 for the FT the following day.
That's a lot more "not advertised", IMO, than what happened this year. As many have noted, the sheet clearly says that 100 return for day two. End of story. Harry also only hurt himself, as the 6-handed format clearly favors him, given his two FT finishes in those events. The reasons he gives for his blowup seem far-fetched to me, at best. Harry's a great player, and I've agreed w/almost evrything he's posted on the WSOP's growing pains the last couple years. But it looks to me like he simply was spoiling for a fight here over anything, and lost his mind temporarily. He was very lucky to get his buyin back, which leads me to hope that Harrah's will be willing to acknowledge they have a lot of work to do once this year's WSOP ends. Based on what we know right now, hard to see where HET did anything wrong(for once). |

[/ QUOTE ] I wanted to side with Harry when I heard about this, I really did. Especially after Cardplayer's amazing disappearing post. I just can't believe how he's forcing me to side with Harrah's. I can appreciate how he or anyone else might not want to have a change in table size as drastic as six to ten, and that a structure like 8-8-9 or 8-9-9 would be much more even. However, he had a chance to get a look at the structure on the WSOP website, as did everyone else. Anyone who didn't like it didn't have to enter the tournament. |

"I'm on my way down there right now and I might get thrown out also. Seriously. I decided to skip the first two levels and get some sleep figuring I'd lose close to half my stack. At a six handed table, I might be out already. This is ridiculous."
