[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I have had a dealer explain to me before that it is impossible to NOT make a string bet by using two hands to make the wager. That you MUST state the amount, or somehow get all the chips into one hand because otherwise one stack of chips will arrive SLIGHTLY before the other, even if it's 1 millisecond, and thus it's a string bet. [/ QUOTE ] That's the nittiest thing I've ever heard in my life... [/ QUOTE ] ...and stupidest. This is so wacky it almost sounds like a poker urban legend. ~ Rick |

"Is it so hard to announce "all in" verbally and stop being a nit."
As I was pushing all of my chips forward (with both hands), right befoe I was to speak (to say, "all-in"), the dealer said it for me. Even mentioning the exact amount of my all-in. As others have said, I thought the dealer stating it for the table was enough. If it ever happens again, I'll make sure I speak up. Thanks for the input. |

[ QUOTE ]
This is so wacky it almost sounds like a poker urban legend. [/ QUOTE ] If it hadn't happened to me, I might agree. Don't recall where it was, and it was like 18mo ago. But I was told this when I grabbed like one stack of 20 chips and another 5 chips in the other hand. Dealer made me take back the short stack (not sure how he decided which stack was slightly ahead of the other). He explained any bet made with two hands was automatically a string bet. It really didn't matter since the other guy folded, and I never ran into that again. That mighta been one of the idiot things that happened to me at Mandalay Bay but I really just don't remember. It would explain why I've never run into it again--I ain't been back to Mandalay. |

"he complained about getting tipped a dollar? ugh."
Hi GB, The odd thing (to me) is it (his complaint) was on a small pot. A "bet & take it" on the flop. He also did it to one other player while I was there (said,""a whole dollar") but then started laughing (whatever). FWIW, I have tipped $20 and more on REALLY big pots (but not always mind you, just more then most players I believe). |

"Howard or other Las Vegas players:
In a small room like this isn't there someone above the floor you can appeal to?" FWIW, I did (on my way out) ask for his name and his boss's name. He did give me both but told me his boss (poker room manager) is on vacation for a while right now (which I have no reason to believe is not true). Thanks for all the input guys. Best Wishes Howard |

![]() The casinos I play at, you can bring stacks towards the middle but if you set them down - then it is a bet, call, etc. So one stack arrived sooner than the other, just a fraction of a second too late? So what! You didn't reach BACK for more, it was all in one motion - which, in my eyes, is a binding bet. The floor was horrible for not hearing your side. The dealer complaining about a tip was horrible. Your opponent, for calling a string-bet, was horrible. Personally, I would stiff this dealer EVERY time for his comment about the $1 tip. |

The Luxor is the absolute worse. $50 max 1/2 NL where you can rebuy for $50 as soon as your at $49 is just plain stupid and wastes everyone/s time.
