A valid reason would be: Greg hurt his arm the week before and had been complaining about it. The gf was simply reminding him not to reinjure it any further.

Any other reason makes the facebook group worthwhile.

I'm friend of OP, and was at said event. A couple details:

1) The girl is not cute. Not ugly. But not whip-worthy, if such a thing exists.

2) Sadly, she wasn't saving him from embarrassment, he does have a good arm.

3) The law school thing is f'ing stupid. I have plenty of pictures that law school admissions officers could have seen on facebook, and I'm quite happy w/ my admits. But moreover, there is NOTHING about this group that would evoke anything but pity from an admissions officer. It's really mean. I mean, I think it's hysterical, but mean.

4) Pussywhipped boyfriend Greg basically sent multiple "stop it i really mean it emails" which can be provided. They are insane. The seriousness with which he takes it is unparalleled. He talks about losing friends who he's barely friends with. That was the only time he saw most of us since we graduated from school in '05.

I think this part of the story needs some further explanation. If the car was the actual reason for gf's request, while somewhat nitty, it's still a legitimate excuse not to throw the football. If the car story was made up by Greg, then what was gf's real reason?
