Couple of quick notes;

The Padres picked up Scott Hairston for a minor leaguer. I don't know anything about the Rosales, but 26 y/o relief "prospects" aren't a whole lot to get excited about. This should work out very well for the Padres.

The Padres signed Shea Hillenbrand. It's only a minor league deal, so don't get your feathers in a ruffle just yet.

The Devil Rays sent Seth McClung to the Brewers for Grant Balfour. My personal preference is for Balfour. He had more K's with similar control coming up. Balfour was also producing much better at AAA this year. I know he's 29, but he lost a lot of time due to injury. I really like this move for the D'Rays.

I would think so, but its too bad they didn't pick up a young starter. Their team isn't going to peak for a few years.

Is it me? Yes, the Devil Rays did well here, but so did the Astros. The 'Stros are about to trade Mark Loretta, and Ensberg too, if they can get anything. Ensberg will likely get non tendered or dealt in the offseason. Biggio is going to retire, so they're going to have holes at 2b and 3b. Do you now see why Wigginton was a good pickup?

Wigginton is under control thorough 2009, Wheeler through 2008.

Wigginton is just as hot of a commodity as Wheeler. In fact, there are quite a few more relievers of Wheeler's quality available than there are power hitters that can play 2b.

Final score; HUGE WIN FOR THE ASTROS!! I believe Tampa is going to be greatly improved next season, and Wheeler can really help out, so this was a good deal for them to. WIN-WIN!!!

The rumored deal sending Kyle Davies for Octavio Dotel might not be complete. Supposedly the Mariners offerd Wladimir Balentien , but the Royals like Davies better. That doesn't seem right to me.
