Re: Democrats take both houses? Dare to dream ...
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] You can't possibly believe that the Democrats would be more fiscally conservative than the current administration, just because that administration has abandoned its traditional base, can you? At least the economic growth spurred by tax rate cuts offer some hope of paying for the profligate spending. With the Dems more will be spent, and the economy flushed on top of it. [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] now post a graph with the deficit as a % of GDP or GNP. Different story. And I was responding to a post about a Dem sweep, which isnt guaranteed gridlock except on tax increases and national security issues, certainly not on spending. |

Re: Democrats take both houses? Dare to dream ...
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'd love to dream with you, but internet demographics are quite Dem (young/urban) [/ QUOTE ] Mr. Reality says otherwise: http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release...ease_id=178875 Nielsen//NetRatings: 36.6 percent of U.S. adults online are Republicans, 30.8 percent are Democrats; 17.3 percent are Independents [/ QUOTE ]Those are users, not those engaged in politics online. The Left absolutely dominates the political blogosphere. For example, dailykos.com gets more traffic than the top 50 right-wing blogs online. Also if you look at polling of who gets their news online (not just uses the internet) it's majority Democrats. [/ QUOTE ] In addition, the independent number is inflated beyond belief, and is stacked with Democrats ashamed to admit it. |

[/ QUOTE ] That's a valid point re: gridlock and taxes/security, but don't underestimate its effect on spending. Even a neo-con spend spend spend Republican Congress will have different ideas on what TO spend on than a Democratic Congress. And besides different ideologies, we'll see plenty of bitter payback and feuding that will break the sides apart even when they might agree were a D or R not next to their names. |
