God, people are so hung up on [censored] routines that mean nothing...

Player is an [censored], the dealer is mostly not an [censored]. The proper response with an [censored] is to say, "Sorry, I could have sworn I said thank you. Thank you." If you want to know how the dealer should have known that the player was an [censored] you should know that anyone who says this-- ""you don't say thank you when you receive a tip?"--is an [censored].

Didn't read anything... but the dealers are the ones getting paid to be there. They should accommodate guests and if that entails swallowing one's pride... they should be willing to do this.

Stupid dealer.

There is no way to "win" against abusive players, simply because it's a falsely-created binary situation. It's not about win/lose, it's about living peacefully with your neighbors, and those with personality disorders don't understand that.

The player and the dealer are twits, but I'm willing to chalk it up on both sides to being tired or having a bad day at home or whatever, pending evidence either of these two are always twits. Either one could have quickly let it drop. I'm certainly not going to say anything if a dealer forgets one time to say thanks. The times I've seen a player bitch about it, the dealer has always quickly done the right thing and just said the words and that was that. Of all the things in life to get worked up over, THIS was not the event.

but then again, wtf? I don't particularly care for it when a dealer does a big dog and pony show over a tip. A nod and tap on the tip box is plenty. And if he forgets one time, BFD. I didn't give him the dollar for some tap dance; I did it because i won a pot and he/she is dealing a good game. There is more personality disorders per capita in a poker room than anywhere.

I was wondering why they tap the chip before dropping it? Is it just a way of acknowleding the tip?

[/ QUOTE ]

I believe this is to show the cameras/security that they are pocketing a tip, and not just pocketing a random chip.

yes tapping the tray is to let anyone intersted to know that they are going to their pocket which should always be done slowly and openly. it is not a thank you. and if they cant bring it upon themselves to thank you for a gift then they just gave you a gift.
