Re: Saw this headline at cardplayer...Pellegrini lays down pocket aces
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Courtesy of Cardplayer.com: Ed Pellegrini Eliminated 11th ($70,000) [/ QUOTE ] for 70k i fold aces 3 times during the bubble too! why are you people so shocked at this? many poker players tend to be superstitious. [/ QUOTE ] Ed, He magically knew he would win 70k when he folded all those aces? People are shocked because he is grinding it out to win 15k while passing up huge opportunities to accumulate chips and have a legit shot at hundreds of thousands to 1 million. Peace, KennyBanya |

[ QUOTE ]
It was a good play. Aces aren't even that good of a hand anyway, aces get beat like all the time. Besides, like the experts say, never go broke with one pair. [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. If someone has KQ, they have 6 outs. You only have 2. Easy fold, IMO. |

Re: Saw this headline at cardplayer...Pellegrini lays down pocket aces..
[ QUOTE ]
"Ed "The Cajun Squeeze" Pellegrini lays down pocket aces 3 times while on the bubble." Is this a joke? Who does this? [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] [/ QUOTE ] I have read all of the responses, and feel like this needs to be said: There is virtually NOBODY here at these boards who would do this. Maybe a lurker or two without much gamble, but mostly...NOBODY. That doesn't mean it wasn't OK for him to do. Williams' response didn't strike me as sarcastic, nor did the other guys'. Sure, they threw a little ribbing in at the end ("I wouldn't," "crying all the way home," etc.), but I really think Williams meant it when he said that we don't know what this guy's circumstance is, and maybe it WAS the best thing for him to do. I think the guy trying to justify it, even going so far as to say that it in spite of appearances, he "knew what he was doing," is a little donkish. I mean, if the $15K is THAT important to you, and if you're going to muck or donkplay all those bullets, you ought to be a little ashamed of it, but feel like you just did the right thing regardless of what anyone might believe ("Hey--that's four years of college for little Eddie at Podunk U., so I don't care what anyone says!"). That said, I don't care if I'm dead broke with three wives and 15 kids...I'm looking to accumulate some biscuits. |

Maybe the guy was broke, and his past history of elimination with AA on the bubble meant an insta-fold to him. He wanted to secure the cash first. |

Is there a hyperbole font I can download someplace? Thanks for reiterating the bulk of my point. My hyperbolic point was simply that even IN such a circumstance, many folks will have different approaches to both poker and life. |

If he didn't want to be "remembered" for it, maybe he shouldn't have told everyone, and done an interview about it ? LOL strategical.
