Not a fan of your line. I don't l/rr, but since you did, I think you should pop it to about $165.

Has he ever seen your hand at a showdown after you made this same l/rr move? How quickly did he 4bet shove?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't believe he has.

Instashove.

[/ QUOTE ]

That's definitely scarier, but would he really insta-shove aces? I'd probably lean towards calling just because I think AK/KK/QQ are more likely than AA.

for completion:

Like i said, I made it $150 and he pushed.

I tanked and ended up folding.

[/ QUOTE ]

U need to have a plan ready if he does a or b. The spot is so ackward I hate to fold after I do that but I dont know if u can do anything else if u dont think he is every shoving with worse hands.

I find it interesting how many dynamics can impact the decision to either go for it or not in these marginal situations...personality, opponents, goals, stakes you're at, at the start or end of a session, etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

So true, I tend to gambol it up and play a lot more coinflips when I am up a bit, and when I'm down a bit I am less likely to gambol and play far more conervitive

But still, I don't like it because if your plan was to turn AK into a bluff (you said you planned to fold) then AK is way too strong to turn into a bluff, because it becomes a marginally +EV call once you raise and he 4-bets.

If you planned to raise/fold as a bluff I'd prefer you had something weaker that you could fold without regrets.

[/ QUOTE ]

This is very wrong, AK is much better than two random cards here because AK has blockers against the hands he'll shove with. Also, if we're priced into correctly calling a push against his range then it mitigates the EV that we lost on our failed bluff.

just calling pf is pretty much not an option at all and reraising as a bluff here has to work a very high percentage of the time to be profitable, so being able to shift his hand range more towards QQ/JJ and away from AA/KK is the only thing that can make this close to correct. And even then I'm not sure that he folds often enough.

do not ever 3-bet fold AK plz

[/ QUOTE ]

It seems amazingly stupid to come in and make a blanket statement like that.

I'll proceed to back that up with the same quantity/quality of logic you provided:

he plays a lot of 6max for one

also, so many fullring players are so weak in these spots preflop, if you RR/fold AK, people can bluff the [censored] out of you as you won't have calling hands often enough
