[ QUOTE ]
I don't have any other info on this hand... he did fold. I posted it because I thought I might have made a bad play and got lucky. I think the worst play in this hand is not 3-betting the turn, and shoving the river might just be compounding my error. [/ QUOTE ] i knew he folded. i really think he had nothing a missed AK/AQ and he was thinking that you're going to float him w/ any two and pull the same move. and 3-betting the turn...what would that achieve? i think it still does the same, you push out worse hands, and only better hands / maybe QQ calls. on the turn, 77 calls, JJ calls, QQ maybe, AA...probably. |

[ QUOTE ]
why not check it down? i think that this is a bad bluff, i dont think that raising the turn was a great idea either. raise the flop. if you were gonna raise the turn then you have to shove dude, nothing else makes sense. [/ QUOTE ] Can you a little further to why no other raise on the turn makes sense? I am not sure what you are getting at here. |

getting ai on the turn makes perfect sense, if you are value raising the turn you have to get full value out of it, also villian might be getting gay with a fd or some other hand that we crush. If he has a monster then he has a monstar.

once the pot is that big, its time to protect it, how many worse hands fold here after reraising? not that many?

[/ QUOTE ] a lot. come on, how come NOBODY else has mentioned how crappy the betting is? 1/2 pot flop into 2 players (any raise on the flop and villain would have folded), 1/4 pot turn!? either he has a huge monster ass hand, or has air/nothing/not even underpair. |

I don't have any other info on this hand... he did fold. [/ QUOTE ] It's pretty unlikely you had the worst hand. I'd focus more on the fact you called the turn bet without really knowing wtf was going on and then randomly decided to turn your hand into a bluff. [ QUOTE ] I posted it because I thought I might have made a bad play and got lucky. [/ QUOTE ] You did. [ QUOTE ] as is, i think this is a good play. i think he folded. i think he had AK and had nothing. obv, any jack is calling, 77 will be forced to call, and AA and QQ wouldn't play it so ridiculously bad. [/ QUOTE ] Um, if these are your reads, shoving is HORRIBLE. You beat every hand that is folding and lose to every hand that calls. A shove on this river is pretty ugly and like I said, Hero called the turn because he thought he was ahead and then randomly decided to bluff river. This does not make sense and is a -EV play. [ QUOTE ] Won't this just force him to fold worse hands as well? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, but it's extremely unlikely he's 3-betting a hand that he's going to fold. If we think we have the best hand (which we do since Hero called the turn 3-bet), it's pretty reasonable to just shove and get it in. [ QUOTE ] and how does his turn bet not reflect his river play? villain bet weak twice, and hero, with a "j" decided to test if villain had a hand or not on the turn, instead of the standard flop raise. [/ QUOTE ] What the hell are you talking about man? I'm not saying he can't rep a Jack, I'm saying that it's irrelevant because we don't have a Jack, we have Kings. We called the turn raise because we thought we had the best hand, not because we were hoping to hit another Jack that we don't even have, and bluff out Villain for no reason. |
