Most things leave you alone if you're way bigger than them and minding your own business.

It definitely hurt initially, similar to a bee sting really. I have no idea why it bit me though, it certainly wasn't provoked. I went to bed around 7 am, and was woken up maybe three hours later when I felt a sharp pain on my foot, and found him clasped onto my foot. Needless to say, it wasn't on me for very long. Really confused me though, I just moved into a new place and my house is very clean.

Yeah I believe centipedes can be redic aggressive for no reason. If I were you I'd have my house sprayed in the near future (assuming there's sprays that kill these massive bastards).
