Grubby was there, but only for the player of the year award and stuff like that... the Netherlands were never that good in wc3. I was there w/ MaDFroG etc, you might know him from both starcraft and wc3. The most famous opponent we had was probably 4K.ToD who played for France, which we beat in the finals.

On a traveling trip to Canada back in High School:

I got a standing ovation for a trumpet solo from an audience of high school students. It was the oddest thing I had ever seen. I wouldn't get as much as a clap or two for such a thing back home, and here is 800+ kids on their feet for me.

I got a Canandian groupie from the deal too...

This is so standard.

I won the German NASCAR Racing League (1996, I think). Now, that was nerdy. It wasn't even online, you completed your race with settings as determined by the league supervisor and handed in your results/screenshots. Won it by a massive 3 point margin.

Apart from that, I knifed one and glocked a second member of the CS team that qualified later for the WCG 2005 in one of the South African regional qualifiers.
The best part was hearing the crowd starting to laugh (since I was the only surviving member of my team for that round, I was on the big screen) as I got out my knife to go after the two guys missing me hiding behind a crate.

Pretty much every nerdy happened senior year

Won gold in "Chemistry Lab" at state science olympiad
Won silver in "Physics Lab" at state science olympiad because stupid Emory professor didn't understand how I did it even though I got it right and finished first. GT professor later told me I was right.
Instruments I made won bronze in "Sound of Music" at state science olympiad
4th place at Georgia Tech Multiplexer (math team event). Had 2 other teamates in top 12, but our 4th [censored] got 43rd, so we finished in 3rd place as a team.
Part of National Champion Team for the Global Enterprise Olympics.

Also, had never dated a girl until after almost all of this. Surprised?

Nerd: Between 6th-8th grades I won the school spelling bee twice and geography bee three times.

Non-nerd: I skipped the regional competition most years because I always had soccer games on the weekend. Sports > Nerd Olympics



Nerd: I got one of the senior year superlative awards in high school

Non-nerd: The award I got was "Student that does the least and succeeds the most." (My biology teacher once said I was either the laziest smart kid or the smartest lazy kid he'd ever met)>



Nerd: In high school I was on the Latin Competition Team (Certamen) and we won a bunch of competitions.

Non-nerd: I only did it for college apps.



Nerd: I once played a best of 21 series of stratego.
