he still has no idea if he's good or not.

Again, so what?

The point is that people are saying "fold pf" simply because it's messy postflop 100% of the time. That doesn't mean it's an unprofitable call preflop, just that it leads to difficult decisions. Too many threads lately are using this is as justification for missing out on extremely marginal, but profitable, preflop spots.

This is a simple question but it seems like I never get the same answer, what odds do you need EXACTLY to set farm? 8.5 to 1 to hit a set, but your not gonna get paid everytime. So do you need the raise to be less than 10% of your stack or what?

Apparently you do

The thing is that no one who is familiar with online poker types in their bets, and no one who is unfamiliar with online poker is agressive.

just fold pre. your out of position which kind of takes any way of taking this down pre without putting all your chips at play out of the window.

just wait and build stack up without set mining.

in the end if your in position with this kind of hand the board will always be dangerous by the turn and if hes got a good hand after your call on the flop he will always be firing into you again. if he doesnt then you can just push the turn or i like the small "totally pot commited dont bother pushing over me ive gotta call" turn bet.

I often type in my bets too.

Relying on silly, stereotyped, far from commonly accepted habits is probably not the best way to approach forming a decision.

Have you ever seen a single player who :
1)is agressive at all
2)raises more than 3x BB

Disregarding bet sizing seems foolish as it is the main form of information you receive playing online poker.
