Ok, here's a good one:

There's a old Peanuts strip where it's the bottom of the last inning, Charlie Brown's team is down one with two outs, he's on third, and their best hitter is up. CB gets tagged out trying to steal home.

I was actually going to debate whether or not Charlie Brown should've had faith in anyone on his team to drive him in. But I stopped typing, because I *hate* that cartoon.

Newspaper, tv, it's all the same: overwhelming pessimism.

I hate that the adults in my life urged me to read/watch it. I hate that I swallowed all that hype, and kept reading/watching.

I never understood the appeal. Like those "Eunice" skits on the old "Carol Burnett" show. They were so pessimistic, I used to weep, and wonder what everyone was laughing at.

And most of all, I hate that Charles Schultz died, yet the paper STILL runs this comic strip. How is that possible???

Speaking of the Pirates can't do anything right: How bout Jim Leyland having Barry Bonds too deep to throw out Sid Bream at the plate in the 92 NLCS.

Davey Johnson deciding to start Ron Darling in Game 7 of the 1988 NLCS instead of pitching Dwight Gooden on 3 days rest (Lasorda did start Orel in this game on 3 days rest). Darling gets rocked in the bottom of the first inning, and Gooden ends up replacing him like in the 2nd or 3rd inning anyways.

Collectively, can we include every time a manager in a big playoff game doesn't have his star closer warmed up and ready to go in a late, tight spot in a (tie game/down 1 run/before the 9th inning) because it's not a "save situation"?

Joe Torre might be the biggest offender in this category.
