You think that Cal is going to go 1-5 or 2-4 against those 6? You can't actually, really think that... If you think we are getting 1.5 wins in those 6 games, I'll take a prop bet for $5000 at +170 that we go at least 3-3. Matchbook X-bets, holler if you can put your money where your mouth is. [/ QUOTE ] did this bet ever happen? Cal 2-3 in those games now |

It never happened, mostly because I don't bet with non-sportsbooks. Plus, 3-3 would have proven my point more than his, but he wanted the 3-3 to win his bet.
In the end, I was correct on my call that Cal was a fraud this year, and that this guy was pumping them up. It's okay, I pumped Tennessee up and they are awwwful. Cal should be 1-4 in those games, but got some luck. |

Like the luck of having their starting QB injured against Oregon State?

Yup, or you know, getting a fumble return TD and PR TD against Tennessee. Or being outgained by Oregon by 100 yards and winning.
So, your point is a good one, thus, back to 2-3 being the true record in those 5. |

How was the PR TD against Tennessee luck?

I don't care if it's Desean Jackson, Devin Hester, or Dante Hall. PR TDs are luck, just like KR TDs and defensive TDs. It's variance.

Having watched Colorado's completely useless punt returners this year, I would beg to differ. Are you saying long passing and rushing TDs are luck too?

I honestly like using the word variance, and yes, I do consider most super long runs and pass TDs variance. Not all, though. For instance, let's say Team X plays Team Y, and Team Y outgains Team X 350-200, and Team X covers the +8 spread by a score of 14-7. Team X's TD came on a 90 yard TD pass.
That's variance, and that play covered like 47% of their total yards. Not indicative of what happened. |

It is variance, but then so is everything that doesn't happen 100 or 0% of the time. Obviously some punt returners are going to score more often and average more yards per return than others.
