Re: Childhood favorite movies and tv shows
I can't really think of any TV shows that haven't been listed.
Watching 'The Wizard of Oz' on TV at Easter time was a ritual for me as a kid. I still love it, even if some of the magic is dimmed when you can pop it in any time you want. The Christmas and Halloween Charlie Brown specials were big favorites also. |

It kinda resonated about our desire to be desired, and that tree represented the unloved outcasts of society (to which Charlie Brown could relate). Thus my favorite part of that show was when he turned that tree into something awesome and ended up pulling everything and everyone together. I have that show on my DVR and still watch it from time to time. It's the only holiday show I like more than the claymation Rudolph special which Burl Ives narrated. When I was a bagboy in high school our grocery store used to sell Christmas trees. Every year the store manager used to sell me or maybe give me the last little unwanted tree, which he even referred to as "the Charlie Brown tree", heh. It was the perfect size for our apartment. |

Re: Childhood favorite movies and tv shows
Just remembered another: I used to love watching Mystery Science Theater 3000. I was young and only 'got' maybe 40% of the jokes, but I just loved the attitude, the personalities.

Rudolph is great, but for me it's a battle for the top two between that one and How the Grinch Stole Christmas, with Grinch stepping a bit ahead.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Hey Dude [/ QUOTE ] el oh el. I only know of this show because a guy from my high school was in it for a couple of seasons. I watched it a bit and will admit, it was awesomely campy and had a couple of really hot chicks. I think one was named Brad (weird) and one was named Melanie. Don't know if either of them went on to much else. [/ QUOTE ] The blonde was Christine whatever who married Ben Stiller/is in Stiller movies. [/ QUOTE ] OMG! I watched this show religiously because of her. Also: Saved by the Bell Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Earlier: Mighty Mouse Winnie the Pooh |

Long before the Untouchables, btw, there was Fantasia. I was a dinosaur freak when I was like 5-8, and watching Fantasia for the first time was a lot like watching Jurrassic Park for the first time.

Re: Childhood favorite movies and tv shows
I'll be honest, the only thing I really remember craving to watch on TV was the Saturday morning cartoons. Why don't they have these anymore???
Smurfs, Punky Brewster, Gummy Bears..just to name a few. We (me and 3 sisters) would wake up at 6am just to watch the cartoons. Fantastic stuff. I miss them. I would watch today, without a doubt, if still on. T |

Re: Childhood favorite movies and tv shows
I went through a phase when I was about 10 of watching The Price is Right every morning during summer break.
I didn't have cable when I was a young kid though so I missed out on all the cartoons everyone is talking about. I do remember watching Fresh Prince of Belair and The Simpsons. I had to watch The Simpsons in secret because my mom said I was too young for it when I was 7. Movies: The Lion King Casper The Land Before Time 101 Dalmations Some Garfield cartoon Star Wars Tom and Jerry |
