5. NEW YORK (6-2) : Huge kudos this week for Tom Coughlin, who has completely changed his approach with not only his team, but the media and the organization as a whole. I'm sure many of you saw the comments in Bill Simmons' mailbag last week, but check out the whole article, found here.

That is some funny [censored] being number 5. have u not seen their D! It is GREAT! I am a Cowboy fan and I am scared next week. We might have to bring in Fasano to block and use some 2 back schemes for Romo to have some time to throw.

Can we start banning people for this? If I ever run for moderator, that will be my platform.

the difference is i actually watched the games. you'd have no clue what i'm talking about. what matters is i was right, unless you somehow think the saints are still a bottom of the nfc team? maybe the giants too because they sucked up their first two games?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think the Saints are better than the Falcons, Rams, 49ers for sure. They are probably better than the Bears and Vikings. After that, I would take any NFC team over them on a neutral field.

And no, you're not "right" yet, because the season isn't over. You don't get to decide after a soft spot in the schedule that your end of the year projections hit the nail on the head. And even if you are, which I think is possible because I can definitely see them finishing 8-8 or so, they played horrific football the first 3 weeks of the season. There had been nothing to suggest that they'd magically turn it around, with the exception of one game.

[/ QUOTE ]
lol this is exactly what i'm saying. that "soft spot in their schedule" is basically the rest of their season. with carolina's schedule being so rough it was not unreasonable to imagine that they could make up the ground somewhere, as long as they played competent football and showed the occasional streak of brilliance which they are capable of. remember its not about who you think beats who on a neutral field, its where you think they end up.

yj,

Disclaimer: My rankings are NOT a traditional power rankings. They are projective, meaning we are ranking based on where teams will finish. Rankings are done based on the playoff guidelines, meaning the division winners get the top four seeds. For a full explanation, please see this post. Also, when I list a team's NFL rank, it's based on DVOA unless otherwise noted.

P.S.- Kyro, I support your platform.

I also support Kyro's platform, but kyro modding is probably not a good idea.

also, not to be an ass, but i am going to rub this in your face for a while. i've been calling for the saints to be up here for three weeks now.

All the way up to... number 10?

I could see them being ahead of CAR but that's really contingent on them beating them because of tiebreaker stuff. That said the NFC South is so week to week. If everything holds to their lines TB will be 5-4, and both the Saints and the Panthers 4-4. At this point the Saints still have an easier schedule but need to beat both TB and CAR to win the division.

I like the Saints - think they're obviously better than what they showed early on, and they're probably an average to above average team. That said they really played themselves into a hole and I'm still not convinced they're better than TB.
