There may be some truth to this, and it could explain why many people say that Dr. Pepper tastes like a cherry cola. Marachino cherries are actually steeped in almond extract to flavor them, and amaretto is an almond liquor.

Usually if you dont drop it into guinness it doesnt taste like dr. pepper, so you use guinness.
