Re: Most surprising \'blunder\' in an authoritative poker book?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] NLTP: "By playing a strictly algarithmic style of pushing all in with 77 + and AJ+, you can beat all but the toughest games." [/ QUOTE ] This looks silly when taken out of context. He's referencing a small stack strategy from Ed Miller's book Getting Started in Hold'em to emphasize the intrinsic advantage of having a small stack. What David is saying happens to be true when you buy into a deep-stacked game with a short stack. This is backed up by many hours logged by Ed Miller using this strategy himself. Also, NLHTAP goes on to read that although this strategy has a modest expectation it is a surefire way for a pro to slash his winrate. [/ QUOTE ] There was a discussion about this a while back, when I introduced a short-stack strategy (far more effective, but perhaps not as mindless) One person said that he used the above strategy for 100,000 hands and broke even. I hope winning expectation is a little better than this. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Doyle Brunson said prayer cures cancer in Super/System [/ QUOTE ] In his case it did. RZ [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, modern medicine is a big joke. [/ QUOTE ] Go research Doyles case, There was no modern medicial cure. The Doctors told him there was nothing they could do. RZ [/ QUOTE ] Little did Doyle know that his guardian faun snuck into his bedroom and placed a mandrake root in a bowl of fresh milk under his bed, feeding it two drops of blood a day until the cancer disappeared. That's what really cured him, the prayer thing is just crazy talk. [/ QUOTE ] You're insane. He was touched by my noodly appendage, and obviously got well. |

Re: Most surprising \'blunder\' in an authoritative poker book?
Most surprising blunder was Roy Cooke Play of Hands II.
Roy was in a set over set confrontation where Roy Cooke had pocket 9's and opponent had pocket JJ Flop came down J92 and Roy got into a raising war with his opponent. Roy said that he had never seen one in 20+ years of playing poker? Was he serious? How did that get into print. The rest of the book is excellent though |
