[ QUOTE ]
being from Okinawa, you can live 180 years without ever seeing one american football game in your life. [/ QUOTE ] This probably explains Okinawans' longevity. |

When I was a kid I thought that Pats logo the stupidest thing ever. And I didn't even dislike the Pats.
I think Packers or Steelers are solid choices. But for OP's purposes maybe he should consider which teams are most likely to be shown in his area. Being a fan of the Packers will be pointless if they never show the games over there because they're from a smaller market or something. I agree that being a fan of the Steelers has merits because of the number of people EVERYWHERE that identify with that team. I like Roethlesberger a lot because he went to my alma-mater. But I grew up cheering for the Bengals and was pretty much programmed since childhood to hate the Steelers and find it difficult to change that. If you are looking for personal info and/or feel-good stories to help sway your opinion here's an article about Roethlesberger dedicating the season to his late college coach. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200...ben1105/1.html |

I'm not sure if this was already said, didn't read the thread.
What I would do is, as I watched more and more football, learn what strategies I liked the most, and decide how "I" would build a team if I were a General Manager. For example would you focus on a defensive team, one that can run the ball really well, a semi-balanced team, etc. Where do they invest their money? In big name QBs, RBs, etc? Or whatever. Then just try to find the team that is most similar to what you would do and root for them. |

Aside from Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Brett Farve, who do you think has a chance to be a future hall of fame QB? I think the QB is the foundation of the personality of a football team. And as a Pats fan, it has been utterly awesome to watch Tom Brady develop over the past 7 years. I'm sure Colts and Packers fans would say the same.
Which is why you should not choose the Patriots, Colts, or Packers. Farve is nearing his end. Manning and Brady are slightly past their halfway points. And while it might be fun to see them finish out their hall of fame careers, it won't be nearly as rewarding to you as it will be for a long time fan. The QB situation after these 3 retire is unknown as far as I know. I'd try to pick a team that has a young potential hall of fame QB. The obvious guesses IMO are Tony Romo and Ben Roethlisberger. Possibly Derek Anderson? I don't buy into guys like Vince Young, but that's just me I guess. |
