as mosdef said, allowing the game to flow makes much more sense than arbitrarily stopping play because a foul was committed within shooting range, and allowing the offending team time to set their defense.

i do agree that no rules need to be changed.

Too bad. Giggs doesn't have to wait for them. It's their responsibility to make sure that Giggs has asked for the defense to give him 10 yards before they start making their arrangements.

they shouldn't have done so, especially since the ref didnt stop play to give it to them. i have no idea why this is being argued.

this is silly. lille were caught napping, and trying to make it into a big club vs small club issue was dumb.

David Navarro suspended for 7 months by UEFA. They are also contacting FIFA who will most likely make the ban from all competitions including the Spanish League and any for the Spanish national team. Even if they don't he can't compete in any European competition including the Champions League and qualifying for Euro 2008.

Pretty harsh sentence, but also a pretty bitch move. Given that he apparently broke the guy's nose and then ran off I guess it's fair.

What's probably more important for now is that Carlos Marchena was suspended for 4 games so if Valencia manage to beat Chelsea he would miss the semifinal as well.
