Re: Cheating at AP, updated cliff notes
[ QUOTE ]
If Absolute really owned UB, I would say they should just dissolve AP and try to move everyone over to UB as quietly/quickly as possible. But it sounds like AP's purchase of UB is actually contingent on more gigantic payments over the next 5 years or something - which would presumably all come from AP poker revenue. [/ QUOTE ] This also means that there is very little chance that AP takes all the money in accounts right now and runs. They have too much to lose compared to what they could gain. |

Re: Cheating at AP, updated cliff notes
[ QUOTE ]
I understand people wanting to get their money back, but if Absolute doesn't pay severely for this, the cheating will certainly continue at a rampant level. There has to be admission of some sort of breach, not necessarily AP current management saying "I did it" but something. They used 363 as poorly as possible, so that chance of detection was basically 100%. If they do not incur a significant loss because of this, what is to stop them from continuing to use 363, but more intelligently? They will be able to blanketly deny any further similar cheating allegations if they don't admit to a breach in this case, and the accusers agree to it. [/ QUOTE ] quoted to make sure Dan Druff reads this |

Re: Cheating at AP, updated cliff notes
[ QUOTE ]
Right now, the only way for AP to survive as a viable company is to get rid of the people involved in this, hire the .xls whistleblower back or give him a settlement (I personally am not doing a [censored] thing to stop leaning on them until that happens) and reassure their clientele. It doesn't have to be a splash on the login screen, but it sure as hell does have to be public in some manner. Anything else at this point is sending the exact opposite signal to the poker community AND TO WASHINGTON, D.C. from the one we should all be sending. It's too late to take care of things the way that gamblers always have, privately. As of right now, AP's best bet to survive is to do it as a transparently operated room with more honesty and more accountability than anyone else in the business. That, or nothing. [/ QUOTE ] Exactly. Whether Absolute survives depends on how the cookie crumbles. But by not being completely humble now it guarantees their chance of survival is 0. My angle, and probably that of many who didn't lose money, is that this story can highlight the problems of unregulated online gambling, and I want Absolute to DIAGF. In slow motion. With reruns. I hate weasels. |

Re: Cheating at AP, updated cliff notes
btw as this account seems a few years, you are being incredibly naive if you think this is the only time it's been used for malpurpose. That is why they need to get an auditor in to discover the truth. They wont do that, and I hope they go down.
