Remember when Washington won all of those 1-run games two years ago? They were 52-36 at the break, then ended up 81-81 because they stopped winning their 1-run games.

[/ QUOTE ] Read this article: http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/ar...one-run-games/ It's a decent summation of it all. A summary: 1. Winning 1-run games is not a consistent skill. 2. Yes, bullpens seem to help, as does "smallball" ad good pitching, but the effect is not as large as you might think. 3. The biggest factors are team talent and luck. |

That was like a nasty takedown there - lucky he's not hurt badly. Good to see AJ go with a pitch for his jack too. |
