[ QUOTE ] All, Sorta random post here, but I've recently been listening to Cat Power again a lot. Her music is just so pretty, I love it. Also, is IndieMatty in charge of NOW! That's Indie Rock! ? [/ QUOTE ] i have been tearing up "The Greatest" daily myself after no listening to it for 6 months or so. do you recommend any of her other stuff in particular? good interview w/her in the month's "Interview" magazine. do you think she is hot? i keep going back and forth, but i really want to like her in all sorts of ways because her voice is so very very very. later. J. [/ QUOTE ] You Are Free is a good album. I read a review somewhere that said something like there is a perfect album hidden inside of it but as it stands just has too much, which I agree with. The first song "I Don't Blame You" is absolutely beautiful and one of my favorite songs. Just Chan playing piano and singing, many people think it's about Cobain, the lyrics definitely work. http://youtube.com/watch?v=cdQz9ghg_sk He War, Speak For Me, Good Woman, Free; there are some great songs on there, but then it continues to drag with the depressed Chan, minimalist style songs that just plod. But I'd give some of those songs a listen. Oh and I freakin love The Greatest, it has such a specific springtimey mood. Glad she won the shortlist award. |

J,
Of course she is hot. I think she would normally be just average, but her singing and the fact that she's batsheet insane makes her pretty hot. |

Re: General Music Discussion Thread (a.k.a. indie lovefest)
Transparent Things by Fujiya & Miyagi is a pretty cool album I've been listening to a lot of lately. Electronic, but not dance-punky like the Justice/Rapture/NYPC stuff. Much more of a laid-back vibe with this one. The lyrics are very good here IMO, which isn't really common for this type of music usually.
Oh, and the Cat Power chick is insanely hot. |
