Rooney and IMO it's not close.

he's not even the best player in his team

[/ QUOTE ]

I wouldn't build the team around a winger. Unless, of course, you meant someone other than Ronaldo.

this type of discussion that works very well for other sports (building a team around a C instead of a PF in basketball, etc) doesn't really work for football.

Ronaldinho isn't playing near his best for more than 6months, I wouldn't be surprised if he turns into Rivaldo.

[/ QUOTE ]

15 goals so far in La Liga not good enough for you?

In the absence of Eto'o, Ronaldinho has his team atop the table and poised to win yet another title.

[/ QUOTE ]

he's not "leading" his team to anything, and he's not playing even near what he was doing in the last couple of years.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, you're entitled to your opinion, but when you score over 20 goals in one of the top leagues in the world (as Ronaldinho is on pace to do, for the first time I believe), you're a world-class talent. Comparing Ronaldinho to Rivaldo is a [censored] joke.

Six of those goals are penalties, and how many are free kicks?

BTW I'm going to homer my build a team around vote and go with Jesus Navas. Obviously\ we need to see if he vaguely approaches it, but he has incredible potential and could easily be as good as Ronaldo in a few years.

I suppose Frank Rijkaard just randomly pulls a name out of a big hat to decide who should take the penalties or free kicks for Barca?

Plus, even if penalties aren't legitimate goals (I mean I could make the vast majority against even a top keeper) you certainly can't say the same about free kicks. Ronaldinho is one of the best free kick takers in the world, he shouldn't have to apologize for having the knack for scoring sensational free kick goals.

Off topic here. I am thinking about a trip to Austria and Switzerland for Euro 2008. Does anyone with any experience going to these tournaments know how much game tickets would cost?

Err...no he chooses the guy who scores 90% of his penalties over the guy who scores 88%.
I mean come on wtf...

And obviously his free kicks are among the best in the world, just saying he'd score fewer free kick goals if say...Juninho was on his team.
