Odd match. Liverpool played better than Everton throughout, made 3 mistakes at the back and gave up 3 goals. That last goal was something I've never seen before - the keeper just dropping the ball onto an attacker's head. A telling stat is that Liverpool at one point was up in shots 14-3 but in shots on target were up 4-3, and at the time were down 2-0. Their finishing was atrocious and their service to the forwards was quite bad as well - they controlled play but didn't get a proportional amount of quality chances. Narrowly missing several times didn't help either.

It is fairly standard I guess that a team up 2-0 gets far outplayed after that, but I feel that Liverpool looked much better in midfield throughout the match and without the two blunders in the first half would probably have won. You have to give Everton credit for taking their chances. In particular the second goal was very well finished.

After suffering through the league season last year, I was really looking forward to this season. Thierry Henry decided to stay, our young players got a year under their belts, after a disapponting first couple of games, the Cole drama is finally over, etc.

Now, it seems that compared to last year we are a better team but suck worse.
