You have just left the planet. My buddy recently bought one (not the wimpy H2 or H3 nonsense, the big boy) and I must say that it is amazing. Have you ridden in one? Driven one? Thrilling vehicular experience ahoy. |

Thinking about a few people who rightly pointed out that most people responding in this thread have no idea as to what this thread was supposed to be about -- i.e. it's not about stuff you don't like, but rather stuff that some people enjoy (like Everybody Loves Raymond for TV) that lightbulbs you into realization to know their place in the universe. However, there is a level of "liking" Da Vinci and John Grisham beyond the superficial -- and I don't know if people should be punished for that, which makes you have to associate context. I've read Grisham's whole library as well as DVC, and while I didn't find them "good" in the broad sense of the term, I think they are good for the reason that they get people reading -- something most don't do. 2+2 is a bit of an academic aberration (with notable exceptions). Even if 1 person out of 100 that reads Grisham moves onto better books, I think that makes his place meritorious. Likewise, DVC. (And, yes, I know you can then think that every single author is "good" for this reason, but I'm thinking in the mass-appeal of getting 40+ million or whatever to pick up DVC means that 40+ million actually bought a book ... which could turn thousands into readers -- a global good was served.) Something to think about before throwing Mr. Time to Kill out with the bathwater. |

It's always meant to be flattering, but it always winds up sounding like what the person is really "all about" is bullsh*t. |
