So let me take a look at a lineup assuming the Rangers sign Avery.

Line 1: Straka/Drury/Jagr
Line 2: Avery/Gomez/Shanahan
Line 3: Prucha/Dubinsky?/Calahan
Line 4: Orr/Betts/Hollweg

DP1: Malik/Rosival
DP2: Tyutin/Mara
DP3: Girardi/Pock(or Staal)

Does this look right?

Close. I think Gomez is going to center Jagr and Drury will center Shanahan. Avery will probably play on the 3rd line. I'd really like to see a line with both Avery and Callahan on it.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them re-sign Hossa even though they probably don't need to.

D looks pretty straight to me. I could see Girardi paired with Tyutin and Mara with Pock/Staal/Strudwick/etc. though.

Yashin is heading back to Russia.

"There is a rumour out there that there could be a deal in the works that would send Redden to San Jose for Patrick Marleau"

"There is a rumour that Emery has turned down an offer for 4 million per year again today. Could get ugly real fast."

-Ecklund (who has been pretty good this offseason, despite posting silly rumors every other year) I don't believe the Marleau one... lol @ Emery if it's true.

Redden for Marleau makes a lot of sense for both teams.

If they get that done, those teams could meet each other in the Cup finals.

Which is partly why I don't believe it.... trades that make sense for both teams never happen.

I would love it if we can get Redden signed for a few more years. EDIT: Wasn't he just average this year?

Honestly I don't think there's a chance in hell Redden signs anywhere before July 1 - the market for UFA defensemen in 2008 is barren and he stands to make $7 million per just for being Wade Redden.

And yeah he wasn't that great, but neither was Marleau in the 2nd round. He's still a top 20 defenseman in the NHL and a change of scenery could do wonders for both players.

The dude buying the Oilers promises to spend the max. WTF.... I don't like teams that can spend more than the Sharks
